Watching the person I love most fight for her life forced me to confront feelings I didn’t know how to express. Filmmaking became a way of staying present — of looking closely when words failed.
I began filming my mother on Super 8 during her treatment, without knowing what the film would become. Over time, I realized I wasn’t trying to document an illness, but to remain close to her as everything around us changed. The camera became both a shield and a bridge.
The film is shaped by questions that have no clear answers — what remains, and what is lost. It stays with these uncertainties, finding meaning in small gestures, routines, and shared silence.
Moving between English and Spanish, the film navigates memory and presence. The fragility of Super 8 mirrors the experience it captures.
The film is not an attempt to explain loss, but to remain within it — to hold onto something as it disappears.
