Ina, an introverted 11-year-old immigrant girl, finds herself captivated by Petra, a newcomer to her class from the same country as she is. Faced with her indifference, a desperate quest for connection takes over Ina's world as she moves between dream and reality.

What’s distinct about Ofrandă is that the concept of identity is expressed in layers. The immigrant identity serves as a catalyst that unlocks Ina's other identities: becoming a woman and being queer. As a queer immigrant myself, I am deeply motivated to tell stories that do not restrict a character's identity to their origin. Instead, I want to tell stories that allow the characters to exist and flourish through a struggle between desires and needs that are universal but, because of their identities, simultaneously unique.
